Kim Jong Un, Russian Minister Forge Cultural Partnership
(MENAFN) Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), held talks with visiting Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova on Sunday, media confirmed Monday.
Marking the first anniversary of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Kim emphasized that collaboration across all sectors between the two nations is steadily intensifying and evolving.
This is playing a significant role in advancing shared prosperity, growth, and the welfare of both nations and their peoples, Kim highlighted.
He stressed the importance of further deepening cultural and artistic exchanges to foster mutual understanding of each other's rich cultural heritage. “It is necessary to further expand the exchanges and cooperation in the field of culture and art to know well about each other's excellent cultural traditions and learn more,” Kim stated.
The meeting featured discussions on upcoming cultural exchange initiatives and cooperation strategies, according to media.
On Sunday, Lyubimova revealed on her Telegram channel that Russia and the DPRK had finalized a cultural cooperation agreement spanning 2025 to 2027.
The comprehensive plan envisions a dynamic series of cultural events, including exhibitions, performances, and exchange programs scheduled to take place in both Moscow and Pyongyang over the next three years.
"I am confident that today's signing of the interdepartmental cooperation program will contribute to the successful implementation of already planned and promising events," Lyubimova said.
In addition to meeting Kim, Lyubimova held talks with DPRK Culture Minister Sung Jong Gyu during her visit.
